Bangs - 'Meet Me On Facebook' Exclusive (video)

Ya boy Bangs is back with a new video, this one dedicated to social networking and innocent chatting with the shorties.

This continues on Bangs' classic music video steez, but sans green screens and a little bit less emphasis on the chains. However, the shorties are still uber present.

Watch the views; it's currently less than 10K and it went up yesterday...let's see how it goes.

Geko - Detonate Feat. Fluent Form & Raven (video)

The homie Raven hit me with this today. I been knew that this clip was happening, as a certain graf writer from the south east was giving Raven many a tip as to how to complete this video...

Anyway, check out the latest single from Geko's Crate Cartel Radio album, 'Detonate', featuring Fluent Form and Raven. It's a fucking banger; dope beat, hard rhymes (pause), just fresh Australian Hip Hop. Cop the album.

KillaQueenz - Break The Rules (video)

Sydney's KillaQueenz have been around for a minute. Myself and Revelino worked with the girls on our Soul District project back in 03/04, and it's great to see them making solid music, touring the country and of course, knocking out fresh videos.

Check out the visuals for single 'Break The Rules'. Dope video. Quality Australian Hip Hop. Big ups.

Masonic Monuments in Melbourne (video)

So yesterdays post inspired todays.

I've watched this video a few times already and it's really, really interesting. If you're in Melbourne, keep an eye out for different things throughout the city, coz there are SO many things that you don't notice unless you really pay attention.

And while I'm here, check the video of Lebron, Wade and Bosh getting welcomed to Miami.

PHustle Beats - Borderline Vol 2 Mixed by VJ K.M.X.E.

The big homie Hustle Beats has been a big supporter of The Movement Fam from the jump. Coming out of Sydney, by way of Toronto, Canada, my dude is a talented producer, blogger and straight up hustler, and his grind is definitely something to admire.

Hustle has released a gang of mixtapes when he was in TO, and from what I understand this is the first disc that he's released out of Australia (homie, correct me if I'm wrong!). Y'all might have caught our single from the tape, 'Livin' This Life' with the other big homie from TO, Theology3, which we dropped a month or two back.

Finally, the tape, entirely produced by Hustle, dropped today and y'all can cop it below for free. Eighteen tracks, MCs and vocalists from all over the globe - y'all can't go wrong.

Make sure you roll past my dude's blog, iHustle Daily, and say what up!

Model Feature - Jenafer Lynn Williams

It's been a minute since our last model feature. My apologies, we been slackin'.

This is the first time we've ever invited a model back for a second chat and a fresh bunch of pics; so Miss Jena is a special one. Our favourite American residing Down Under stopped by for another chat, and delivered a brand new smokin' set of flicks exclusively for the readers of TheMovementFam.com...

Cee: Hey Jena, it's been over a year since we saw you last. What's been happening?
Jena: Still in Australia..(sigh)!

Cee: What sort of shoots have you been doing recently?
Jena: Alot of lingerie work...soon to be moving into swimwear, I hope, if I can stay in shape.

 Jenafer Lynn Williams

Cee: Have you managed to work with any of the photographers you mentioned last time?
Jena: I doubt that would ever happen, this is just a paycheck for me, nothing more.

Cee: You were doing yoga and lingerie modelling, have you been doing much of that? Are you still enjoying that line of work?
Jena: Still doing all of that, that's the only thing I do enjoy doing. Lingerie is fun! And I keep all of it, for all you single men...

Jenafer Lynn Williams

Cee: Tell us about the new photos we have here.
Jena: It's just a mix of my favorites. All genres. But I will let you in on a secret that I will be doing a very well known American Mag that most of you wouldn't think I would do...an AUS version..but still the same mag. You are in for a bare all treat :D

Cee: Have you had any memorable experiences with your modelling in the past year?
Jena: Recently doing my 2nd shoot with Zoo...always a blast with their crew. Memorable almost baring all in front of everyone!

Jenafer Lynn Williams

Cee: I heard word that you might be trying out for the Dallas Desire in the Lingerie Football League...
Jena: ha ha ha..did you? Well, I do plan on trying out and that's all I can do. Would you come watch me? I would surely NOT play nice!

Cee: So you're an American model living in Australia. Has the experience out here been different from your experiences at home?
Jena: Besides everyone hating me, and the slang...not really. I love Australia but I am ready to be home. I miss the gentlemen.

Jenafer Lynn Williams

Cee: You're heading back to the US later this year; do you plan to continue the modelling?
Jena: I don't think so. Unless I need money. I want to focus on my charity work.

Cee: What's next for you?
Jena: A year volunteering in Tanzania..I hope!

Jenafer Lynn Williams

Cee: You're the first model we've had back for a second time around, so thank you! :)
Jena: WOW..I don't know who to thank..LOL. Anything for the Movement Fam. I love you guys. xx

360 - 'Take Off (Sky Is Falling)' (sneak preview)

The Australian readers will be familiar with Matthew Colwell, aka 360, from his eclectic mixtape appearances, his esteemed battle career and his work with Pez as Forthwrite.

So dude dropped his debut album, 'What You See Is What You Get', a couple years back, and he's about to hit us with his sophomore effort 'Falling And Flying'. This time around, though, he's not only backed by label Soulmate Records but by major EMI, so it'll be interesting to see how this one goes.

Check out the first single, 'Take Off (Sky Is Falling)'. The entire album is produced by Styalz Fuego, and the sound is hella varied from what I'm told. This joint is on that electro vibe, and I dig it. Listened a couple times, finding it a bit hard to get into but after a few more listens I have a feeling it'll click. I don't see any other artists in Australia being this forward thinking in the Hip Hop scene, so I'm keen on checking out the LP. Get it up ya.

Artist Feature: DJ Rob Swift

This is one man who needs no introduction. Any self-respecting Hip Hop fan will know of The X-Ecutioners, one of the most respected and talented DJs crews to ever rock the 1200s. The recent passing of the legendary Roc Raida has brought the guys to the forefront yet again; well, it's not like they ever left, really.

DJ Rob Swift has just released a brand new album entitled 'The Architect', and it's unlike anything you've ever heard before. Hip Hop, Classical, Turntablism. Actually, let's just call it good music.

I was blessed to do the first Australian interview with Rob (shouts to the homegirl Tamia!), so let's get right to it...

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: Hey Rob, how's things man?

Rob Swift: Things are great!

Cee: First up, I checked out the album. All I can say is 'wow'. This is on some next level shit. What was your main inspiration for it?

RS: The inspiration for "THE ARCHITECT" is the genre of classical music. On past albums, Jazz was the driving force for a lot of my creativity. Listen to my first album "THE ABLIST" and you'll hear songs with live bands. Even the album cover was intended to invoke a feel of the old Blue Note record label. Pick up my second album "SOUND EVENT" and discover tracks like "Salsa
Scratch" featuring jazz pianist Bob James. But this time around, about one month prior to begin working on what would later become "THE ARCHITECT", I discovered the genre of classical music. It made such an impression on me that subconsciously I was thinking like a classical composer, working movements and things of that sort. Once I realized this, I embraced it.

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: How do you feel turntablism and classical music are related?

RS: Both the classical musician and turntablist compose music. Its as simple as that. Obviously, the way we compose our music is different. Turntablists do not read sheets of music. A classically trained pianist or violinist does. However what ties us together is the way sound, rhythm and tempo inspire us to make music in the first place. Both the instincts of the
Turntablist and classical composer guide him on what sources of sound to incorporate into a piece, and so on.

Cee: Why the move to use more classical sound on this project?

RS: I felt the need to reinvent my sound. This was my way of giving my audience something new to look forward to regarding my music. It also served as a way of keeping the process of recording new and challenging for me.

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: Why the decision to only include one vocalist on the album?

RS: Well, I was listening by composers like Beethoven, Mozart and especially Frederic Chopin. Their music captured your attention with out the need of a vocalist. I wanted to achieve the same. I didn't want to use the presence of an MC on a particular song as a crutch!

Cee: What do you expect to achieve with this album?

RS: My goal on all of my albums was to emphasize the turntable is a musical instrument in the hands of the right DJ. For skeptics that didn't believe it when release my prior albums, there's no way than can deny it after listening to "THE ARCHITECT".

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: Was this more of a personal record or something for the people?

RS: I put my heart into everything I do. Thus, this album was just as personal as all my other releases. Likewise, I like to stimulate my audience and challenge the way they hear music so in that sense its for the people!

Cee: How did you meet Mike Patton and link up with his label?

RS: I first met Mike Patton at a show the X-ecutioners collaborated with him on in Canada. This was many years ago. Later on, we recorded an album with Mike entitled "GENERAL PATTON VS THE X-ECUTIONERS". Most recently, I toured with Mike as a member of his band "Peeping Tom". All of this allowed us to develop a strong musical connection. So midway through the completion of my album, I reached out to Mike about releasing "THE ARCH..." And after
listening to a rough draft of the album Mike responded in a very positive way to it and offered to draw up a recording deal on behalf of his label Ipecac Recordings.

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: How did the passing of Roc Raida affect you both as a musician and as a friend?

RS: As a musician, it makes me appreciate what I do for a living even more. It's easy to grow tired of the countless hours spent on planes, trains and automobiles on your quest to tour the globe spreading the word about a particular project. It's easy to get comfortable in what you've accomplished in the past and play it safe, only doing just enough at a show or in the recording studio. But Raida passing away is a reminder that you can't take life and the opportunities life offers us, for granted. Raida showed us that none of us know what's waiting for us around the corner so its important for you and I to give everything we do 110% because after we're
gone our work on this earth is what carries on our legacy. As a friend, Raida showed me the important roll we all play in each others lives. Raida and I motivated each other to be the best DJ, producer, musician and all around person. At times we accomplished this through being creative. Other times we accomplished this did it through it was through working out
creative and personal differences. Our friendship was deep. Tumultuous at times because of the passion we have but full of love as well. We were like brothers! I'll miss him forever and for this reason I dedicated "THE ARCHITECT" to him!

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: Tell us about the live show for the album.

RS: The live show is something you definitely must witness in person. Let's just say you won't be disappointed. I'm usually drenched in sweat by the finally of the show.

Cee: Are you working on any other projects at the moment?

RS: At the moment, I'm working on a DVD documenting "THE ARCHITECT" world tour!

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: What's the plans for the immediate future?

RS: Work, work, work and work some more to promote my album!

Cee: Are you getting down to Australia any time soon?

RS: Thanks to a fine trio of Australians (Tamia, MJ and Aaron - WHAT UP!) I will be touring Australia this May! It'll be my first solo tour their and I'm really excited about it!

DJ Rob Swift

Cee: Any message for the fans?

RS: I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the various shows I'll be having in Australia and please support my new album!

Cee: Thanks for your time man!

RS: Thank you!

What Cee be on...George, son

Aight, so I really like the idea of basically hitting y'all with a video of some of the new tunes I've been listening to. 'New' being new to me. See, I've been exploring music like I never have before recently, and it has truly had a profound impact on all aspects of my life. So I can't help but want to share the songs and artists that are moving me.

I gotta shout out MissCoca (check out her blog!) for putting me onto George. Remember them? I barely do. A band from Brisbane who were big in Australia in the '90s, these cats made some serious noise, mainly due to the angelic voice of Katie Noonan (who just dropped an EP, which is INCREDIBLE).

Check the video for this cut - 'Breathe In Now'. I so wish I remember this one when it dropped. It's honestly one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a while. Shivers every time.

RAAAAAAAANDY!

If you're in Canada or the USA, you're lucky enough to be able to see Judd Apatow's new movie Funny People on July 31st. Those of us in Australia need to wait until September 10th... not cool.

Funny People is Judd Apatow's third film, his previous ones being the hilarious "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up" - two of the funniest in this new era of comedy films. It stars Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Eric Bana... but this post is all about Aziz Ansari.

Aziz plays Randy, a stand-up comedian on the rise. The team behind the film have put out three viral videos so far to introduce us all to Raaaaaaaandy (that's 8 A's). They are classic. Watch below.

David Icke Wrap Up...to come...

David Icke

I was lucky enough to get to see David Icke live in Melbourne yesterday (hence no blog post). Wow. It was amazing, just as expected. David's infectious energy and passion for his work was extremely present, as the 1500 people deep crowd gave the man a standing ovation upon his entrance and exit from the stage; the information was presented impeccably, and as tired as I was from a hard weekend's partying, I was interested the entire time.

I'll do a proper wrap up after this weekend when I put some of the photos up. To give you a taste of David's work, check the clip below. Brilliant.

Bekah on Neighbours?

Bekah on Neighbours, Thursday March 13th 2009 from The Movement Fam on Vimeo.

That's right, the lady of The Movement Fam is getting her drama queen on. On Thursday 5th March, Bekah appeared as a featured extra on Neighbours (an Australia TV soap opera, based in Melbourne). She plays a nurse, and this was her second appearance on the show. Check the video, there's no audio as I couldn't get it working for some reason.

For those who wanna know, it's Ep 5639 [S 25 - Ep 034].

NOTORIOUS

I'm quite impatiently waiting for Notorious to finally drop locally. Seven more days. Apparently it's due for release in Australia next Thursday, 12 March.

To help you compare, it dropped on 16 January 2009 in the USA. That's two months. Granted, the release delay is a lot shorter than for a lot of movies in the past, but it's still not good enough. You'd think the movie studios would wanna hit everywhere in the world at once. Especially with all the piracy around these days and the ease at which people can find and download a high quality copy of most movies.

Why does it take big films like Watchmen, which released around the world today, for there to be a simultaneous worldwide release? From Belgium's opening on the 4th of March through to Japan's opening of 28 March. Less than a month is a beautiful timeframe. Less than a month is something I can handle.

What makes it worse is that Fox Home Entertainment have just released pics of the DVD and Blu-Ray covers for Notorious. Like I need to be drooling any more than I already am.

Something tells me I will one day own that "Collector's Edition" Blu-Ray. Not that I think the movie is gonna be outstanding, but it'll probably end up being one of those Hip Hop movies you bust out every now and then.

Anybody out there seen Notorious yet? Drop a comment and let us know what you thought.

Infinite Archetype (Iyea) Beats

Infinite Archetype (Iyea) Beats

Aight, so y'all would have heard of Iyea by now. The Movement Fam representative is a Scotland native, Perth resident, he has produced 'Gone' from Cee & Bekah's 'The Soul Movement Volume 2', as well a couple fresh joints from 'The Soul Movement Volume 3', and will most definitely be appearing on the albums and future projects from the whole Fam.

Iyea's style could best be described as Hip Hop Soul, a slick blend of early Kanye, with Primo and Pete Rock thrown in for good measure. There's even a touch of Just Blaze if you listen carefully.

Check out some of Iyea's work and fresh beats on the Infinite Archetype MySpace page. Holla!

Model Mondays Feature: Ree El-Gadaa

Yes folks, we're back with another Model Mondays. We would never disappoint y'all.

So this week, we're heading back to Australia and we caught up with a beautiful young lady by the name of Ree El-Gadaa. She's a part time fashion model, full time employee yet her hustle don't quit. Check the pics and interview after the jump.

Ree: My first shoot was about eight yrs ago, although I don't model full time.

Ree El-Gadaa

Cee: What are the misconceptions people commonly have about models that are untrue?

Ree: The biggest misconception would have to be that we're one dimensional, materialistic and lacking substance...

Ree El-Gadaa

Cee: What shows, videos, magazines, etc. have you been featured in?

Ree: I did a Victoria's Secret fashion show in 2007, introducing the brand to Australia in connection with Hottest Hunk of the Year awards. I've also done a few fashion magazines and catalogue work.

Ree: Blush, Andrew Thomas photography, Emily Abay, and Tony Anastasi.

Ree El-Gadaa

Cee: Any words for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modeling industry?

Ree: My advice for the ladies out there that have aspirations of entering the modeling industry is you have to be thick skinned, because not everyone's going to tell you what you want to hear...and be true to yourself, don't sell yourself short just because you think it'll get you to the top.

Ree El-Gadaa

Cee: What's your plans from here?

Ree: My plans from here? Broaden my portfolio, work with talented photographers; as long as I am learning new things, I'm moving in the right direction!

I didn't know P.U.T.S. made a track about Oz

I bugged out when my man Ocka hit me with the link for this People Under The Stairs video. The Wiz was shot on location in Australia and references the cities and locations the P.U.T.S. crew have come to know and love.

Admittedly I'm late on this as the video was released towards the end of 2008, but everybody has to see this.

The Movement Fam @ St Kilda Festival - A Pictorial

For all the Melbourne heads, this needs no explanation. For the folks on the other side of the planet, the St Kilda Festival, as outlined in the post on Sunday, is essentially a street festival in the bayside suburb of St Kilda, which really spans for like 8 or 9 days but the actual huge day is the last Sunday, which is generally the second weekend in February.

It's not unlike any other festival I've been to around the world - they close all the major roads and side streets in the area and fill it up with food stalls, vendors, and the like; it's got like 10 live music stages (I could be exaggerating here), and there's more hippies than you can poke a stick at. The two main streets - Acland St and Fitzroy St - are chock full of restaurants and bars anyway, so there's no shortage of spots to hit. The whole Fam ventured out for the day, and here's some of the less incriminating photos. Holla.
